Gift Aid

Gift Aid Explained

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is a simple, government initiative which allows us to increase the value of your donations at no extra cost to you. For every pound you give to us we can get an extra 28 pence from the Inland Revenue.
For example, on a £10 donation to Save China's Tigers the Inland Revenue will add £2.80, bringing the total donation to £12.80.

What conditions are required in order fo me to Gift Aid my donations?

The only conditions are that you are a UK tax payer and you must pay an amount of income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the tax that we reclaim on your donations in the tax year (currently 28p for each £1 you give).

What do I need to be regarded as a UK tax payer?

If you have a salary, savings in a bank and/or building society, investments or a pension you may well be a tax payer, so you can Gift Aid your donations.

Will this affect my tax status?

No. As a tax payer any donations you make to Save China's Tigers have already had an element of tax removed from them.

What do I have to do?

All you have to do is tick the box: a simple Gift Aid declaration which confirms that we can claim back the tax on your gifts.

Can I Gift Aid my donations if I am a higher rate tax payer?

Yes. Please tick the box. You can then personally claim tax relief on the difference between your higher rate tax and basic rate on your self assessment form.

How do I cancel a declaration?

All you need do is drop us a line at any time telling us you wish to cancel your declaration. Our address can be found on this website.

Do I have to tell the taxman about my donations?

Only if you are asked to complete a self-assessment tax form by the Inland Revenue.

Please note the following listed points regarding what Gift Aid ensures:
