Week 224 (7 - 13 December 2007)

Affection between TigerWoods and Cathay

The tigers had an uneventful week at Laohu Valley. After they were fed 2 blesbok on Saturday, they got a wildebeest as food again on Monday afternoon. All the tigers ate themselves full. Plenty of food made even TigerWoods show no more interest in food! He and Cathay were closed in the quarantine camp while the wildebeest carcass was put in the 9 ha camp. When the gate between the 9 ha camp and the quarantine camp was opened Cathay was the first to run into the camp and she began to eat immediately. TigerWoods didn’t want to leave the quarantine camp. Finally the gate was left open for him and 327 was closed inside the breeding centre for the night.

He finally went back to the 9 ha camp the next day. Both him and Cathay seemed fat and satisfied. During that same afternoon, TigerWoods kept smelling Cathay’s s genital area and also scent marked her directly. Cathay seemed not to care at all. They rubbed heads with each other a lot and played for a while, then both of them went to the wildebeest carcass and began to eat. The whole process seemed very peaceful. TigerWoods dragged the carcass several times but Cathay always dragged it back again. However she remained submissive and did not fight with him at all. When it began to rain, TigerWoods went to the fence and lay down. Cathay came close to him and lay down beside him. She even held him with her paws. TigerWoods turned around and held her in his arm as well. Cathay soon fell asleep but TigerWoods kept watching looking outside the camp.
