Week 270 (24th -30th Oct 2008)
Life continues
24 October: Hulooo was chasing JenB around, while Coco was right behind Hulooo. They ran around and had good fun. Hulooo walked away from the boys and marked one log closer to the breeding centre. He is growing up really fast. He lifted his tail, sprayed 2 or 3 times, and joined JenB in running around. Coco went to the log to smell first and then he went to lie on the crush cage.
25 October: Madonna was seen pacing the fence of the 9ha camp. After a while, she started pacing the fence of the 3ha camp. Her cubs were with her. They are very playful and full of energy. The little cubs were following Madonna the whole way up to the gate of the 1ha camp. While Madonna was pacing, she kept a close eye on the cubs and every now and then, she chuffed at them. They walked into the grass and disappeared in the ditch.
26 October: Madonna was pacing the fence of the 3ha camp with 327. She was chuffing a lot at him. Her cubs where walking with her. When 327 saw the cubs, he looked at them and started chuffing at them. The cubs just looked at uncle 327 and rejoined Madonna in pacing. Madonna took the cubs into the longer grass after a while, until I couldn’t see them anymore.
27 October: TigerWoods and Cathay were really playful. TigerWoods were busy chewing on a piece of leftover meat. Cathay soon started to play with TigerWoods and he had no choice but to play along. Cathay ran around and chased TigerWoods. TigerWoods would go and lie down after a while of playing, but then Cathay would come and lie on top of him. She even tried to mount him once. Some times it looked as if Cathay would hug TigerWoods and he would hug her back. After a long time of playing, TigerWoods went to give the pole shelter a hug and walked off into the grass.
28 October: Madonna was lying in the far corner of her camp. I could barely see her. She had her cubs with her. She would clean the small cubs and then rub her head against them. She stood up after a while, just touched her cubs with her paw and ran away. The little cubs would run after Madonna as if they were chasing her. Those little babies can run really fast.
29 October: 327 walked all the way from the 40ha camp to come and greet me. He drank a little water and walked off to say hallo to Madonna…the love of his life. Madonna was pacing the fence of the 3ha camp the whole morning. She and 327 walked down the fence together. When Madonna came to the corner of her camp, she picked up a piece of meat and took it to where her cubs were lying. While walking back with the meat, she was chuffing, and crying at the same time. After putting the meat down, she rejoined 327. One of the cubs came out to greet 327 as well, chuffing at the big uncle 327 that they know.
30 October: Hulooo was lying on the pole shelter, basking in the sun a little. JenB and Coco were playing on some of the logs in the camp. Hulooo got of the pole shelter to come and greet me. After a while, he went over to play with JenB, but none of the young boys wanted to play with Hulooo. He lost interest and walked away to go to sleep next to the breeding centres gate.
