Composed by Angela Perkins
Performed by Carla Stanworth & Children from Peover Superior Primary School in Cheshire
The songs were written in 2001 by Angela Perkins. As a musician and composer, she was concerned about the threat to tiger survival. She wrote the songs and donated them to SCT so as to try to raise awareness and cash for protecting the species through music. The second tune, 'Habitat' is supposed to be a descriptive piece depicting various wild life habitats.

Don't Cry for the Tigers
Lyrics
So asked the children once again
Tell us about your distant friend
Then as I spoke I felt the pain
This time my story truly had an end.
Far, far away in mountain land
How she would run so wild and free
Over the plains and on again
Where the great river snakes towards the sea
Her and her kind were happy then,
Left to their own they multiplied.
Then came the day the stranger came.
And as she ran she knew her mate had died.
Where was the horde as time passed by
How could she ever understand?
Only she knew she'd seen them fall.
Each day the strangers came upon her land.
And then one day as the sun went down,
As she quietly slept with her young around,
Time was so short but she couldn't know
For with guns in the night they would come.
Instrumental
Quickly she sprang into the air
And protecting her young her only care
Then as she keeled her head went down
Sublime to the end the tiger beast.
Stillness descends, surrounding her,
Just the wind blows across the plain.
Only her coat the breeze will stir.
Who can they take now if they come again
